Wednesday, 1/30/13 (con't)

As I mentioned earlier the majority of our team traveled to Paul today. We worked with 700 students in the school to teach them their colors in English. This is just the beginning of what Pastor Pierre envisions as a long term English learning program for the students throughout the mission. The medical team saw 300 people and the eye glass team saw 105.

While we were gone Abe, Pat, Alex and Ray stayed in LaCroix and went around checking wells. Abe and Pat were approached by a a student who had a piece of construction hardware stuck in his finger. Abe grabbed a pair of plyers and started to work the piece out of his finger. Seeing that the child was in extreme pain, they gave him a pencil to bite on. Once the piece was out of his finger a teacher asked what their names were. While Pat and Abe knew that they had just set the practice of medicine back about 15 years, Pat quickly jumped in and said "Dr. Patti." Dr. Patti is a well known American doctor here in Haiti who is working with us this week. A sense of humor is always a good thing!
